Claude Sonnet 4.5 Now Available in GitHub Copilot
Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4.5 language model is now generally available to users of GitHub Copilot Enterprise, Copilot Business, Copilot Pro, and Copilot Pro+.
Accessing Claude Sonnet 4.5
You can access Claude Sonnet 4.5 within GitHub Copilot Chat across the following environments:
- github.com
- GitHub Mobile
- Visual Studio Code
- Visual Studio
- JetBrains IDEs
- Xcode
- Eclipse
Use the chat model picker to select Claude Sonnet 4.5 in agent, ask, or edit modes. If the model isn’t immediately available, check back later as rollout continues.
Enabling Access
- For Organizational Plans: Copilot Business and Enterprise admins must enable the Claude Sonnet 4.5 policy in Copilot Chat and IDE settings. Once enabled, users in that organization will see the model option in supported IDEs.
- For Individual Plans: Select Claude Sonnet 4.5 from the model picker in any supported IDE and confirm the one-time prompt.
Copilot Coding Agent
The Copilot coding agent now uses Claude Sonnet 4.5 across all subscription types, regardless of Copilot Chat and IDE settings.
